As part of my Product Design course, I worked to design and market a solution that delivers contrast therapy to athletes. I followed Therabody's branding and image as guidelines for the project.

Consumer Research 

My research included:

  • 15 collegiate athlete interviews

  • 2 professional athlete interviews

  • 3 athletic trainer/physical trainer interview

  • 5 other interviews, surgical history

Design

Understanding my consumer needs, I designed a simple yet aesthetic silhouette along with a functional interactive screen design. After further refinement, I created a manufacturing and assembly plan.

Design Requirements:

  • Portable

  • Water-free

  • Cordless

  • Effectively delivers heat and cold

  • Reflects Therabody's brand identify

Prototype Development

Utilizing CAD and 3D printing, I brought my design to life. With a professional finish in mind, I used quality finish spray paints and custom-cut logos and emblems to curate the high-quality look and feel that all Therabody products reflect.

Presentation

Finally, I presented my design and research findings to a panel of Northwestern University board members, professors, faculty, and students.
